Digital Photography For Beginners – Easy Tips For Memorable Shots At A Friend’s Wedding!

Be wary when shooting subjects where the background light is bright, as this can make them appear too dark in the final image. Digital photography for beginners can be confusing when you have to make too many adjustments to the camera settings (e.g. using manual settings instead of automatic) to get the photo you want. So make things easier for yourself by shooting where the light is diffused (e.g. a nearby tree may block out some sunlight).

Candid shots can be dramatic. In most cases, the professional arranges guests in an orderly fashion, for formal pictures. Be on the lookout for people in animated situations, or children playing around. You may catch some interesting and intriguing candid shots that can later complement the professional’s portfolio.

Once you have taken your shot, swiftly review the results on the LCD screen to ensure you captured what you wanted. If necessary, quickly re-shoot, as it may be hard, or impossible, to recreate the image again later.

Make sure you have extra memory cards and batteries at hand. There is nothing more frustrating than seeing all those unique photo opportunities and having nothing to take them with.

If you are intending to print the photos to a decent size (e.g. A4 or greater) you should consider shooting in RAW format (if your camera allows it). If RAW is not an option, set your camera’s JPEG settings to the best quality available.

Carefully review your photos back on your computer when you have some time. Identify the photos that worked well, and learn from these, so the techniques and settings you used can be duplicated at subsequent functions.

When you consider digital photography for beginners, you may not think weddings to be an option. However, a wedding is a wonderful event, and if you can capture a dozen or so great images from this unique occasion, you will have memories that you, your family and friends can treasure for a lifetime.
